dc.description.abstract | This research focuses on verbal humor in the movie Dungeons & Dragons ;
Honour Among Thieves. It was a qualitative descriptive research with General
Theory of Verbal Humor (GTVH) as its approaches. Its aim were to describe the
types of verbal humour and to explain the realization of verbal humor in the
movie Dungeons & Dragons ; Honour Among Thieves. This research found that
there were 30 verbal humors in the object of the research which categorized into 9
out of 12 categories. The most ubiquitous verbal humor was joke (26,7%),
followed by wit (16,7%), sarcasm and satire with 13,3% for each, farce with 10%,
each riddle and irony with 6,7%, and pun with 3,3%. The verbal humor found was
analyzed by applying the six Knowledge Resources in the General Theory of
Verbal Humor (GTVH); Script Opposition (SO), Logical Mechanism (LM),
Situation (SI), Targer (TA), Narative Stretagy (NS), and Language (LA). Based
on the result of the analysis, the most ubiquitous was joke, and there were no
limerick, parody, and tall tale. The analysis was done in hierarchical order of the
