Pengalaman Perawat Memberikan Asuhan Keperawatan pada Pasien Readmission di Rumah Sakit Jiwa Prof Dr. Muhammad Ildrem Medan

Abstract

Medication for patients with mental disorder such as schizophrenia needs a long time of treatment. This condition can cause the increase in the relapse rate of about 50% to 92% so that they have to be treated with inpatient treatment. The relapse is cause by the inability of the patients to communicate normally; one of the reasons is that they think that other people will injure them. The interview with nurse practitioners reveal that what happens at the mental hospital is that the nurses feel disappointed with the patients' families and neighbors since they are not ready to receive the patients so that the patients would go back to the hospital. The research uses a descriptive qualitative phenomenological approach. The result of the research shows that there are four themes: 1) Treatment for feel when they take care of readmission patients, readmission patients, 2) What do the nurses 3) identifying the cause of readmission patients, and 4) strategy to prevent hospital readmission. It is recommended that positive attitude be built, quality of service for patients be improved, and patients who have returned home be always monitored.
