This study discusses the National Narcotics Agency of North Sumatra province in 2007-2-16. The purpose of this study is to describe the process of formation of BNNP-SU, the most instrumental figures, the initial board of BNNP-SU, budget, personnel BNNP-SU, point of circulation, types of drugs that are often used, obstacles, challenges, and efforts in drug eradication. This thesis research uses historical methods that will be explained structurally according to the period of a historical event. The initial stage of this research is the search for data or heuristics through literature and field studies to the Office of the National Narcotics Agency of North Sumatra province. After all the sources have been collected, the next step is to filter the data which is then carried out the analysis process until the last stage in writing the thesis. The National Narcotics Agency of North Sumatra province began to form since 2007, which before the formation of BNN North Sumatra was called BNP with not too many personnel. The initial formation of BNNP-SU did not have a budget so it did not work effectively. BNNP-SU has an organizational structure consisting of the head of BNN, General section, eradication and intelligence, prevention and community empowerment, and rehabilitation. During the years 2007-2016 North Sumatra achieved the highest ranking of the largest drug users in Indonesia, these drugs are flowed through the Deli River. This made BNNP-SU very overwhelmed due to limited personnel and tools. Then the challenge faced in eradicating drugs is that many new types of drugs are found. And efforts are made by doing early prevention, prevention of insecurity, and tertiary prevention.
