    Abstract
    Introduction. In this modern era, the laundry business plays a crucial role in providing clothing cleaning services, including in the Medan Selayang Subdistrict. However, workers in this sector often face health risks, including the possibility of contact dermatitis. Contact dermatitis frequently poses a skin health challenge for laundry workers, influenced by various factors such as atopic diseases and the use of personal protective equipment. Therefore, further understanding of these factors is expected to significantly contribute to the development of preventive and health management strategies for workers, creating a safer and healthier working environment in the laundry sector. Objective. This research aims to explore the relationship between atopic diseases and the use of personal protective equipment with the occurrence of contact dermatitis in laundry workers in the Medan Selayang Subdistrict. Method. The employed method is quantitative analytics. The sample consists of a number of laundry workers in the Medan Selayang Subdistrict, selected through consecutive sampling. Data collection techniques involve interviews and observations. Data analysis utilizes the Pearson Chi-Square test, examining the relationship or independence between categorical variables through statistical testing on frequency distributions. Results and Discussion. There is a significant relationship between atopic diseases and the occurrence of contact dermatitis in laundry workers in the Medan Selayang Subdistrict (p-value = 0.026), and there is a relationship between the use of personal protective equipment and the occurrence of contact dermatitis in laundry workers in the Medan Selayang Subdistrict (p-value = 0.029). Conclusion. The research findings affirm a significant relationship between atopic diseases and the use of personal protective equipment with the occurrence of contact dermatitis in laundry workers. Through these results, it is hoped that serious efforts will be made in the prevention and management of workers' health issues, emphasizing the need to create a safer and healthier working environment in the laundry sector as a proactive measure to ensure the well-being of laundry workers.
