Hubungan Pemberian Kemoterapi Fase Induksi terhadap Fungsi Hati pada Anak Penderita Leukemia di RSUP Haji Adam Malik Medan Tahun 2021 Sampai dengan Tahun 2023

Abstract

Background. Leukaemia ranks in the top ten of the most common cancers commonly suffered by children. The most frequently used treatment for leukaemia is chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is divided into several phases, one of which is the induction phase which is the shortest and most intensive chemotherapy phase using drugs yet with side effects. One of the side effects is liver function disruption. Objective. This study aims to analize the effect of chemotherapy administration towards liver function of paediatric patients suffering from induction phase leukaemia at the Haji Adam Malik General Hospital in Medan from 2021 to 2023. Method. This research is an comparative analytical study with a cross sectional design. The sample used in this study was paediatric patients suffering from leukaemia at the Haji Adam Malik Hospital in Medan in 2021 2023 based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected using medical records, which then analysed using the Wilcoxon statistical test. Results. From 100 paediatric patients with leukaemia, the mean and standard deviation values of AST enzyme level before and after administration of induction phase chemotherapy were 30.21 ± 23.235 and 37.11 ± 25.223, and the ALT enzyme level had the average of 48.37 ± 62.824 and 61,48 ± 64,301. The Wilcoxon test result between administration of induction phase chemotherapy and liver function AST and ALT showed a p value <0.05. Conclusion There was a significant relationship between the administration of induction phase chemotherapy and the levels of AST and ALT in paediatric patients with leukaemia at Haji Adam Malik Hospital Medan in 2021 2023.
