    Abstract
    Background. Stress is a reaction that occurs in a person's body and mind, both from a psychological, physical and behavioral perspective, to pressure that originates both from within oneself and from the surrounding environment. Menstruation is a natural process in which the uterus experiences periodic bleeding and the endometrium is shed. Every month a woman will release one mature egg from the left or right ovary alternately. Aim. To find out whether there is a relationship between stress levels during the exam period and changes in the menstrual cycle in female students at SMA Harapan 1 Medan. Methods. This research is an interview research with Slovin calculations which will be analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis. Results. The results of the univariate analysis showed that there were 48 respondents (34%), followed by the mild stress group with 37 respondents (26%), the Normal degree group with 33 respondents (23%), and the severe degree group with 24 respondents (17%); as many as 101 respondents (71%), followed by the polymenorrhea group with 24 respondents (17%), oligomenorrhea with 11 respondents (8%), and amenorrhea with 6 respondents (4%). The results of bivariate analysis on SPSS using the chi square test. The results of bivariate statistical tests. Through the chi square test, it shows that there is no relationship between stress levels and the menstrual cycle, it is found that the P value = 0.410 < 0.05. Based on this analysis, it can be concluded that there is no relationship between stress levels and the menstrual cycle. Conclusion. There was no significant relationship between stress levels and changes in the menstrual cycle.
