Introduction. Treatment of diarrhea due to Salmonella infection using antibiotics is a concern because of the many cases of antibiotic resistance that occur. Alternative treatment of diarrhea using guava leaves (Psidium guajava L.) has been widely practiced by the Indonesian people. The content of Psidium guajava L. leaves in the form of saponins, tannins, flavonoids, and alkaloids are known to have antibacterial effects. Psidium guajava L. leaves have many varieties, including red and white variants. A comparative test of the inhibitory power of Psidium guajava L. leaf extracts of red and white variants in vitro is needed to determine which variant is superior as an alternative medicinal raw material. Objective. Knowing the comparison of the inhibitory power of Psidium guajava L. leaf extracts of red and white variants against the growth of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium bacteria. Method. This study is an analytical study with a quasi experimental design to compare groups of 70% ethanol extract of Psidium guajava L. leaves of red and white variants. Each extract was divided into 10 concentration groups, namely 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, and 100% which were treated on Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium ATCC 14028 bacterial colonies with repetition of 3 times. Results and Discussion. Psidium guajava L. leaf extracts of red and white variants have differences in inhibition power, namely at 70% concentration with an average diameter of inhibition zone of 6.63mm and 6.53mm respectively, 80% concentration of 7.27mm and 7.53mm, and 90% of 8.07mm and 9.03mm. The results of independent T-test and Mann-Whitney statistical tests on the difference in the average diameter of the inhibition zone were p>0.05. Conclusion. The ethanol extract of Psidium guajava L. red and white variants has an insignificant difference in inhibition against the growth of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium bacteria.en_US
