Gambaran Karakteristik Pasien Tuberkulosis Sensitif Obat di Kota Medan pada Awal Era Pandemi Covid-19 Tahun 2019-2020
Abstract
Background. TB (Tuberculosis) is a disease that mainly attacks the respiratory system but can attack other organs caused by mycobacterium tuberculosis. Patients suffering from TB who are not treated or do not complete treatment will cause Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis. The Covid-19 pandemic has caused a decrease in TB cases while increasing the incidence of dropping out of treatment due to large-scale social restriction policies. Aim. Knowing the characteristics of drug-sensitive tuberculosis patients in Medan City at the beginning of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic era. Methods. This research is a retrospective study with total sampling method which will be analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis. Results. The most common characteristics of TB patients were complete treatment in 4,355 patients (78.77%), followed by recovered in 622 patients (11.28%), dropping out of treatment in 408 patients (7.39%), 130 patients died ( 2.35%), 11 patients (0.19%) failed, and 2 patients (0.02%) were not evaluated. In this study, based on the characteristics of drug-sensitive TB patients, the patients underwent complete treatment. Conclusion. Description of the characteristics of drug-sensitive tuberculosis patients in Medan City at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 was that the new patient is male sex, infected with pulmonary tuberculosis with the status of cured and complete treatment.
