Hubungan Beban Caregiver Pasien Stroke dengan Tingkat Depresi, Ansietas, dan Stres di RS Prof DR Chairuddin Panusunan Lubis

Abstract

Introduction. Stroke patients often need caregiving assistance in carrying out daily activities which are usually assisted by family caregivers. Meanwhile, mental health disorders such as stress, depression and anxiety are often found in caregivers. This can cause caregivers to provide less care and health services optimally. Therefore, it is important to maintain the workload and quality of health, both physical and mental, of stroke patient caregivers. Objective. To determine the relationship between the burden of caregivers of stroke patients and their levels of depression, stress and anxiety. Method. This research used a total sampling method with an analysis test using the Fisher Exact Test regarding the relationship between caregiver burden for stroke patients and Levels of depression, stress and anxiety. There were 27 respondents which included to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Respondents were interviewed and filled out a questionnaire containing the ZBJ (Zarit Burden Interview) questionnaire as a tool to measure burden and DASS (Depression Anxiety Stress Scale) as a tool to measure depression, anxiety and stress for caregivers of stroke patients. Results. The results of the study showed that there wasa relationship between the caregiver burden ofstroke patients and depression, stress and anxiety, with a p value = <O.005. Conclusion. There is a relationship between the burden of caregivers of stroke patients and levels of depression, stress and anxiety. Caregivers of stroke patients need to receive support .from health students, the community, institutions and the government to improve their quality of life.
