Introduction. Lack of sleep can cause serious health consequences such as
increased disease mortality and morbidity. The risk that occurs from lack of sleep
is that blood pressure increases and develops into hypertension. Objective. The
aim of this research is to determine the relationship between sleep quality and
blood pressure in breastfeeding mothers. Method. This research is quantitative
research using analytical research design. The sampling was carried out using a
technique, namely a simple random sampling technique of 70 people. Data were
collected using a questionnaire adopted from The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index
(PSQI). Date analysis used the chi-square test. Results. Of the 70 respondents, for
blood pressure criteria, the majority of respondents had normal blood pressure.
Based on sleep quality, the majority have poor sleep quality. The results of the
chi-square test statistic showed a p-value of 0.004 < 0.05. So it can be concluded
that there is a relationship between sleep quality and blood pressure in
breastfeeding mothers. Conclusion. There is a relationship between sleep quality
and blood pressure in breastfeeding mothers. The better the quality of sleep, the
better the mother's blood pressure will be so that she does not experience
hypertension.
