    Abstract
Background. Otomycosis has a high recurrence rate and remains a challenge for treatment and long-term follow-up. Treatment must consider the suitability between the combination of fungal types with diverse antifungal drug sensitivities to avoid the development of resistance. In addition, it must also be balanced with good patient compliance to achieve maximum curative effect. One way to ensure patient compliance is the selection of drugs with simple application methods. To date, no antifungal drops for the treatment of otomycosis have been approved and authorized by the FDA. In addition, the dosage form of antifungal drug drops for otomycosis is also not yet available in Indonesia. Objective. To determine the difference in sensitivity of ketoconazole 2% cream and 2% acetic acid mixture on fungal isolates of otomycosis patients at RSUP HAM and RS Prof. Chairuddin P. Lubis. Methods. True experimental research in vitro with posttest only control group design. The research sample was a fungal culture of otomycosis patients totaling 11 people. Sample collection using total sampling method during September-October period. Antifungal sensitivity was tested at the USU FK Microbiology Lab using the disc diffusion method. Test results were interpreted using CLSI criteria and analyzed using SPSS with the Pearson Chi Square test. Results. Of the 11 samples tested, the sensitivity of the two antifungals varied. The results of statistical analysis showed a significant difference in the sensitivity of ketoconazole 2% cream and 2% acetic acid mixture (P=0.032). Conclusion. There is a significant difference between the sensitivity of ketoconazole 2% cream and 2% acetic acid mixture against fungal isolates of otomycosis patients.
