| dc.description.abstract | One of the treatments for tongue cancer is surgery and will cause scars. Sand sea cucumber and dragon fruit skin are ingredients that have active compounds. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of a combination extract of sand sea cucumber (Holothuria scabra) and dragon fruit peel (Hylocereus polyrhizus) concentration of 30% to accelerate wound healing after stage 1 tongue cancer surgery in vivo.
This type of research is laboratory experimental with a post-test only control group design. The samples used were 27 male wistars and a combination of sand sea cucumber and dragon fruit peel concentration of 30%. The procedure for making extracts is according to the Indonesian Herbal Pharmacope. Twenty-seven male wistars were injected with 2% DMBA on the lateral side of the tongue and waited 4 weeks. Any bulges that appear will be excised. Drops were given twice a day, then observed macroscopically and microscopically on days 3, 7 and 14. Analysis of research data used Anova, Kruskal-Wallis and post hoc LSD tests (p>0.05).
Research results showed, the combination of sand sea cucumber and dragon fruit peel with a concentration of 30% drops was effective in healing wounds after excision of stage 1 tongue cancer in rat tongues because all the test group rats experienced perfect wound closure with an average healing time of 8.5 days. The conclusion is that combination of sand sea cucumber and dragon fruit peel concentration 30% drops is effective in healing post-excision wounds for stage 1 tongue cancer in rat tongues | en_US |
