    Abstract
Background and Aims: Blood eosinophil count may predict treatment response in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) during acute exacerbations. However, the ability of blood eosinophil counts in stable status to predict eosinophilic excacerbation, degree of shortness of breath and hopitalization have not been completely investigated. Methods: This was a cohort retrospective study performed Juni-August 2022 to Juni-August 2023. Subject were COPD patients who were treated at the outpatient using ICS LABA therapy. Blood samples measured blood eosinophil levels. We identifed a blood eosinophil count cut-of point at stable COPD, as absolute value, for identifcation rate of exacerbation, degree of shortness of breath and hospitalization. Results: There was signifciant positive correlation of eosinophil counts and rate of excacerbation (p=0.03) but there was not with degree of shortness of breath (p=0.98) and hospitalization (p= 0.398). Conclusion: We demonstrated association between blood eosinophil counts at stable COPD with rate of excacerbation, degree of shortness of breath and hospitalization. There was significant positive correlation of eosinophil counts and rate of excacerbation. Further and prospective studies in other populations should validate our results.
