Bleeding is a case that often occurs in dental practice. Physiologically, blood can undergo a hemostasis process, but not all individuals have normal physiological conditions to stimulate hemostasis, so it is necessary to consider the use of hemostatic agents in an effort to stop bleeding to speed up the wound healing process. Chitosan has hemostatic properties because it can stimulate the aggregation of red blood cells and platelets. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using chitosan extract from giant mud crab shell (Scylla serrata) on blood clotting time. This type of research is true experimental with a post test only control group design. The samples used were blood from Oryctolagus cuniculus rabbits which were divided into two groups, namely the control group and the treatment group. This study uses the Lee and White method to determine the average blood clotting time. Analysis of research data was carried out
using the Independent T Test The results of the study showed that there was a significant difference between the average blood clotting time of the control group and the treatment group with a value of p=0.000 (p<0.05). The use of chitosan extract can speed up the average blood clotting time as a hemostasis phase in the wound healing process
