Pengaruh Gel Ekstrak Daun Petai Cina (Leucaena Glauca, Benth) Terhadap Jumlah Neutrofil Tikus Wistar Jantan dalam Proses Penyembuhan Gingivitis
Effect Of Gel Extract Of Chinese Petai Leaves (Leucaena glauca, Benth) On Neutrofil Number Of Wistar Rats In The Process Of Gingivitis Healing
Abstract
Inflammation acts as a self-defense to phagocytize microorganisms that enter the body.
Neutrophil cells are the first cells to migrate from blood vessels as a natural response
of the body when damage signals occur. The aim is to determine the number of
neutrophil cells in the gingiva of rats induced inflammation after the administration of
Chinese petai leaf extract gel. The method used is true experiment with posttest only
controlled group design. Male wistar rats were induced with Porphyromonas gingivalis
ATCC®33277™ bacteria on the cervical gingiva of rats and waited for 4x24 hours
until inflammation occurred in the rat gingiva. The gingiva of rats that experienced
inflammation was treated in several groups, namely Chinese petai leaf extract gel
concentrations of 6% and 15%, gengigel, and distilled water. On day 3 and day 5,
dissection of each treatment group was carried out to see the number of neutrophil cells
in rats using an Olympus CX31 microscope at 400x magnification. Data analysis used
One Way ANOVA test then continued using the LSD Post Hoc test. The results showed
that there was a decrease in the number of neutrophils in male Wistar rats that
experienced gingivitis after being treated using Chinese petai leaf extract gel
concentrations of 6% and 15% and there was no significant difference between Chinese
petai leaf extract gel concentrations of 6% and 15%. The conclusion of this study is
that Chinese petai leaf extract gel concentrations of 6% and 15% can reduce the number
of neutrophils in rats that experience gingivitis
