Analisis Kesadahan Total Kalsium (Ca) dan Magnesium (Mg) pada Air Minum Isi Ulang dengan Metode Titrimetri yang Beredar di Daerah Medan Selayang
Analysis of Total Hardness of Calcium (Ca) and Magnesium (Mg) in Refilled Drinking Water Using The Titrimetry Method Circulating in The Medan Selayang Area
Abstract
Background: Public consumption needs for refillable drinking water are increasing, this is because it is more practical, easy to obtain, and the price is also relatively affordable. Refillable drinking water that is suitable for consumption should not contain chemicals that are harmful to human health. Therefore, determining water hardness is one of the chemical parameters in determining water quality.
Purpose: This research aims to determine the suitability of the total hardness value in refil drinking water samples in the Medan Selayang area according to the requirements according to the Minister of Health Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia No. 492/MENKES/PER/IV/2010.
Method: The research was carried out using the titrimetric titration method where Eriochrome Black T (EBT) was used as an indicator which produced purplish red color in the sample solution. If Na2EDTA is added as a titrant, the end point of the titration is obtained when the color changes from purplish red to blue.
Result: The results of the research showed that the five refill drinking water samples from the Medan Selayang area met the requierments as water suitable for consumption with a total hardness level of 27,72 mg/L – 50,68 mg/L.
Conlusion: The results of the total hardness value analysis carried out on the five samples met the requirements Minister of Health Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia No. 492/MENKES/PER/IV/2010, where the maximum allowable hardness value is 500 mg/L.
