| dc.description.abstract | Background. Lowering consciousness is a life-threatening condition. Facing life-threatening conditions, it is important to do assessment and first aid. One of it is known as primary survey, which is the actions that is done with goals to find and to treat life-threatening conditions. The main principle in doing primary survey is based on ABCDE, which encompass A (airway), B (breathing), C (circulation), D (disability), and E (exposure and environment control). Pasar Petisah is one of the largest market in Medan, having a lot of sellers, and visited by a lot of buyers. Crowded place is one of the high risk factors to induce life-threatening events. As a result, it’s important for the community in Pasar Petisah to masterize the primary survey in knowledge aspect. Objective. The study aims to know the knowledge of community in pasar Petisah about primary survey in lowering consciousness condition at pasar Petisah. Method. This type of research is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design. The study uses the primary data by filling the questionnaire. The number of samples needed is 97 subjects with sample retrieval techniques using non probability sampling. Results. Out of 97 people of the community in pasar Petisah, 3 people (3.1%) have a good level of knowledge, 41 people (42.3%) have sufficient level of knowledge and 53 people (54.65%) have lacking level of knowledge. On the readiness to do primary survey aspect, 61 people (62.9%) said they were ready, followed by 23 people (23.7%) said they were doubtful, while 13 people (13.4%) said they were not ready. Conclusion. The average people in the community of pasar Petisah still have lacking level of knowledge about primary survey in lowering consciousness condition but still ready to primary survey if encountering emergency events. | en_US |
