Pengembangan Pariwisata Berkelanjutan Air Terjun Ponot di Kabupaten Asahan dalam Rangka Pengembangan Wilayah

Abstract

Tourism development is one of the leading programs in regional development, which will be able to contribute to local revenue (PAD) and create jobs, protect and preserve culture and the environment, and benefit the people at large. So that the Asahan Regency Government established the Asahan Go Tourism Priority Program as a response to the large tourism potential such as that of the Air Terjun Ponot, but not accompanied by benefits to the community as indicated by the low PAD from the tourism sector. The Asahan Go Wisata Priority Program aims to develop tourism potential in Asahan Regency so that it has an impact on economic development and people's welfare. This study aims to identify and analyze the strategy for developing sustainable tourism at Ponot Waterfall in Asahan District and to identify and analyze the utilization of sustainable tourism development at Air Terjun Ponot for regional development in Asahan District. In analyzing how to develop sustainable tourism at Ponot Waterfall in Asahan Regency in the context of regional development, the authors use relevant theories and concepts as analytical tools for the data collected including the conceptions of tourism development, sustainable tourism, and regional development. The data presented in this study are the result of various primary and secondary databases. The data was obtained through direct interviews, observations, and literature studies conducted on books, journals, newspapers, internet sites, documents from government organizations and various other related literature.
