The Relationship Between Father Involvement and Subjective Well-Being in Adolescents Whose Fathers Work Abroad
Abstract
This study aims to determine the relationship between father involvement and subjective well-being in adolescents whose fathers work abroad. This study involved 104 adolescents 18-22 years old (x̄ = 74.72 and std = 16.306 in father involvement, x̄ = 21.96 and std = 6.784 in cognitive aspect (life satisfaction) SWB, x̄ = 0.68 and std = 8.841 in affective aspect SWB). The method used in this study was a quantitative method with a correlational type of research. The scale used was the Father Involvement Scale (FIS) by Finley & Schwartz (2004) and the Sarifaction with Life Scale and the Scale of Positive and Negative Experience by Diener (2009). The data obtained were processed using the Pearson correlation analysis technique. The results showed that there was a relationship between father involvement and adolescent subjective well-being (r = 0.636 and 0.389, p<0.05).
