The Effects of Hardiness on Burnout in Caregivers of Putra Utama Jakarta Social Children Orphanage
Abstract
Burnout is a psychological syndrome characterized by fatigue, depersonalization, and low self-achievement. With high work demands and stressors, it will have a negative impact in the form of physiological, psychological and behavioral symptoms on caregivers. One of the factors that affect the high-low burnout in caregivers is a personality characteristic, namely hardiness. This study aims to examine the effect of hardiness on burnout in caregivers who work at the Putra Utama Jakarta Social Orphanage for children. This study used research subjects as many as 90 people. The method used in this study is a quantitative method with data collection using a Likert scale amely the Occupational Hardiness Questionnaire scale compiled by Jimenez, et al (2014) which consists of 17 items and the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) scale compiled by Maslach and Jackson (1981) which consists of 22 items. he data analysis used is multiple regression analysis method. The results of this study indicate that hardiness has a significant effect on caregiver burnout. Based on the coefficient of determination that has been obtained, Hardiness contributes 66.6% to the burnout variable .
