The development of the textile industry that requires dyes such as Methylene Blue
(MB) is very rapid, where MB is very dangerous for human health which can cause irritation to the skin, respiratory tract and the danger of liver cancer, because we need a material to manage MB One of the materials needed is a Cu2O/ZnO/GO nanocomposite. The manufacture of this nanocomposite material
is from a mixture of raw materials for Cu2O, 1 ZnO and graphene oxide (GO)
nanoparticles through coprecipitation and hydrothermal methods with variations of Cu2O/ZnO 1:1, 1:2 and 2:1 and Cu2O /ZnO nanocomposites after being doped with GO with variation in concentration (1, 3, 5 and 10)%. Sampling was carried
out in three stages. The first step was the synthesis of Cu2O and ZnO nanoparticles using Cu(NO3)2•3H2O and Zn(NO3)2•6H2O precursors based on the coprecipitation method and graphene oxide derived from graphite oxide (pencil rods) using a modified hummer method. The second stage was mixing Cu2O,
ZnO, and GO nanoparticles using the hydrothermal method to form Cu2O
/ZnO/GO nanocomposites. The third stage was the mixing process of Cu2O
/ZnO/GO nanocomposite with MB type textile waste material using the
photocatalytic adsorption method with the help of UV light from a halogen lamp. Then performed the characterization of Cu2O /ZnO/GO nanocomposite. The characterization results showed that the most optimum composition was Cu2O
/ZnO nanocomposite with a ratio of 1:2 and the addition of 5% GO resulted in
85,9 % degradation efficiency of methylene blue under UV light from a halogen
lamp for 120 minutes. The results of photocatalytic materials based on Cu2O
/ZnO/GO nanocomposite can be applied to degrade MB type textile dye waste.
