Analisis Peran Sektor Pertanian pada Perekonomian di Kabupaten Labuhanbatu

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the leading commodities in the agricultural sector, analyze the position of each agricultural sub-sector, and analyze the shift in the growth of the agricultural sector in the economic structure of Labuhanbatu Regency. The research used the purposive area sampling method to determine the area, and the Location Quotient (LQ) method, Klasssen Typology, and Shift Share Analysis methods for analysis.The results showed that rice was the leading commodity (base) in food crops. The base commodities in horticultural crops were spinach, long beans, cucumber, starfruit, langsat/duku, water apple, guava, mango, mangosteen, jackfruit, papaya, rambutan, and sapodilla. Oil palm was the base commodity in plantation crops, while beef cattle, goats, and sheep were the base commodities in livestock. The position of the sub-sectors of food crops, agricultural and hunting services, livestock and fisheries were in quadrant III (potential sub-sectors or still able to develop), while horticultural crops, plantation crops, and forestry were in quadrant IV (relatively lagging sub-sectors). The shift share analysis showed a positive total performance of agricultural sector growth. The agricultural sector plays a very important role in the economy in Labuhanbatu Regency.
