    Abstract
The film Paskal is a Malaysian film in Malay. However, in the dialogue, there are language variations, namely Malay and English, this is called code mixing. Code mixing is the use of two or more languages in speech acts. Therefore, this film is an interesting object to study because it contains elements of code mixing which will be studied using sociolinguistic theory. This research aims to find out what factors and types of code mixing are in the film Paskal. This is motivated by the fact that the Paskal film is not only studied from a literary perspective but also from a linguistic perspective, especially in sociolinguistic studies. The method used in this research is a qualitative method which is descriptive in nature. The data source in this research is conversational dialogue in the film Paskal. The results of the research show that the factors causing code mixing are 6 factors, namely as follows: (1) Limitations on Code Use (2) Speaker and Personality of the Speaker (3) Mode of Conversation (4) Topic (5) Function and Purpose (6) Subject of Discussion. The limitations of using dominant codes are using equivalent words and phrases. The speaker and the speaker's personality will change when speaking in a work situation and in a relaxed situation. The dominant mode of conversation is the oral mode and occurs in the informal variety. Topics, almost all of the most dominant topics in this film are non-scientific topics. The function and purpose of the film Paskal aims to give orders and scold. The most dominant talking point or topic in the film Paskal is the informal talking point. The results of the analysis of the type of code mixing are outer code mixing. The type of code mixing in the data found in the film Paskal is only outer code mixing. The loan language used in this film is English.
