Efek Rebusan Tanaman Serai (Cymbopogon citratus) dan Kecombrang (Etlingera elatior) terhadap Persentase Mortalitas, Nilai Ekonomis Pakan dan Nilai IOFC Ayam Broiler
The Effect of Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) and Torch Ginger(Etlingera elatior) Plant Decoction on the Percentage of Mortality, Economic Value of Feed and the IOFC Value of Broiler Chickens
Abstract
Giving phytobiotics to livestock is done to optimise the mechanism of action
of active substances contained in herbal plants as antibacterials to overcome the
use of antibiotics both in feed and drinking water. This study aims to determine the
benefits of giving boiled water of herbal plants including lemongrass and torch
ginger plants as phytobiotics on the percentage of mortality, increasing the
economic value of feed and the IOFC value of broiler. The research was conducted
at the Animal Husbandry Study Program Cage, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas
Sumatera Utara from March to April 2023 using a complete randomised design
(CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replicates. The treatments consisted of P0 as
control, P1 (drinking water with the addition of lemongrass plant decoction water
25% of the daily needs of livestock), P2 (drinking water with the addition of torch
ginger plant decoction water 25% of the daily needs of livestock), and P3 (drinking
water with the addition of combined lemongrass and torch ginger plant decoction
water 25% of the daily needs of livestock). The parameters observed were the
percentage of mortality, economic value of feed and IOFC value of broiler. The
results showed that the provision of lemongrass and torch ginger decoction water
did not affect the percentage of mortality by 1%, the economic value of feed by Rp
15,735 and the IOFC value of broiler chickens by Rp 10,352.
