Abstract
This research aims to determine the description of the nationalism of the Dharma
WanitaSatu (DWP) in the North Sumatra Province Maritime and Fisheries Service.
This research involved 45 DWP members. Sampling was carried out using nonprobability
techniques with the total sampling method. The scale reliability value
used in this research is reliability (rxx = 0.771). The results of data analysis show
that the descriptive value of nationalism is that 8 people (17.8%) have nationalism
in the low category. For the medium category, there were 30 people (66.7%), and
as many as 7 people (15.6%) had high category nationalism. The test results show
that nationalism tends to be in the medium category. There are three aspects that
form nationalism, namely, generalized positive assessment of the nation, feelings of
superiority, and nation-related tendencies of idealization. The test results for each
aspect show that nationalism tends to be moderate. In the generalized positive
assessment of the nation aspect, 4 (8.9%) participants were in the low category, 26
(57.8%) participants were in the medium category, and 15 (33.3%) participants
were in the high category. In the feelings of superiority aspect, 1 (2.2%) participant
was in the low category, 12 (26.6%) were in the medium category, and 32 (71.2%)
participants were in the high category. Then, from the aspect of nation-related
tendencies of idealization, 14 (1.1%) were in the low category, 13 (28.9%)
participants were in the medium category, and 18 (40%) participants were in the
high category. Apart from the three aspects, there are also several factors that
influence nationalism, namely, ethnicity, age and religion
