This research employs a qualitative phenomenological approach aimed at explaining binge-watching behavior as a maladaptive coping strategy among college students. The utilization of inappropriate coping mechanisms can have negative impacts on individuals. One such maladaptive strategy frequently adopted by students is binge-watching. The findings of this study indicate that binge-watching behavior, when utilized as a maladaptive coping strategy, manifests as impulsive engagement driven by the motivation for negative reinforcement mechanisms. This behavior is characterized by a lack of planning, perseverance, and a propensity for sensation seeking. These conclusions are drawn through an analysis of the psychological factors contributing to binge-watching behavior as outlined by Maéva Flayelle et al., and the factors underpinning maladaptive coping strategies as delineated by Ellen Skinner et al. The study comprises two student informants selected through criterion sampling techniques. Data collection was conducted via interviews, and analysis was performed utilizing the qualitative data analysis method developed by Miles and Huberman.en_US
