dc.description.abstract | Preparation of cetyl palmitate from palmitic acid and cetyl alcohol esterification with commercial lipase enzyme catalyst and reacting it with microwaves has been carried out. The parameters used in this study are the comparison of molar ratio, catalyst weight variation and reaction time variation. Confirmation of cetyl palmitate formation was performed using an FT-IR spectrophotometer and the conversion of fatty acids to ceryl palmitate was determined by acid titration. The maximum cetyl palmitate conversion has been obtained, at a conversion molar ratio variation of 81.7% which is at a molar ratio condition of 1:7, at a conversion catalyst weight variation of 88.8% which is at a catalyst weight condition of 25% and at a conversion reaction time variation of 87% which is at a reaction condition of 0.5 minutes. The formation of an ester groups from cetyl palmitate produced is characterized by the presence of C=O carbonyl group at wavenumber 1699.7 with stretching vibrations and absorption bands of C-O-C groups at wavenumber 1058.6 cm-1 with bending vibrations and with sharp peaks. | en_US |
