Variasi Pemakaian Bahasa Melayu di Desa Secanggang Kecamatan Secanggang Kabupaten Langkat Kajian Sosiolinguistik
Abstract
The aim of this research is to describe the forms of Malay language variations and describe their functions based on their use in the speech of Malay language variations in Secanggang Village, Secanggang District, Langkat Regency. The informants involved in this research were approximately 35 Malay people in the village. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. The theory used in this research is sociolinguistic theory. The data collection methods used in this study were observation, interviews and documentation studies. The data analysis method used is inductive, namely an analysis based on the data obtained, which is then developed into a hypothesis. The results of this study show that there are forms of language variation found in the speech of the Malay Community in Secanggang Village, namely, variations in terms of speakers, functional variations, variations in terms of usage, variations in terms of formality, and variations in terms of means. This study also shows that there is a general function of language use in Malay community communication in Secanggang Village, namely, instrumental function, regulatory function, representational function, interactional function, personal function, heuristic function, and imaginative function.
