Design of Multichannel Automatic Ventilator System Using MQ5 Smoke Sensor Based on ATMEGA 8535 Microcontroller
Abstract
Technological progress provides many benefits for human life. One invention that provides many positive benefits is the invention of sensors. With the sensor can be made an automatic system to perform a neutralization action. For example, neutralize room air when polluted with cigarette smoke. The invention of smoke and gas sensors made this possible. Existing smoke sensors, for example MQ5, are quite sensitive in detecting indoor smoke. The MQ5 sensor output is also easy to read because it is an analog voltage equivalent to smoke concentration. However, this sensor also has shortcomings or weaknesses, for example in terms of distance or limited scope. An MQ5 smoke sensor can only detect smoke as far away as 20 square meters or a 4x5 meter room. Room smoke detection systems can be designed using MQ5 smoke sensors and an AVR microcontroller, the Atmega 8535. The sensor provides a voltage output that is directly proportional to the detected smoke. The microcontroller reads the output and compares it with the minimum reference value of smoke. Automatic ventilator control programs can be created with C programming language with AVR code vision software version 3.27. Program code is written in the editor column and then compiled into machine code. Then to insert or upload programs to the microcontroller, additional devices are used, namely USBASP and Extreme Burner software.
