Pengalaman Keagamaan Ketika Melaksanakan Vipassana Bhavana

Abstract

This research is a qualitative-phenomenological research that aims to see the description of religious experience when practicing Vipassana Bhavana. Many previous studies related to Vipassana Bhavana, but no one has examined religious experience in depthly. The sampling technique in this study used purposive sampling method. The sample amounted to 3 people with different levels, college students, householders, and Sangha members. The subjects in this study have studied and attended Vipassana meditation retreats intensively for 10 days. The method of data collection is using interviews. The data obtained were analyzed by following the Miles and Huberman qualitative data analysis procedure. The research data were examined based on aspects of religious experience from Compton and Hoffman's theory. The results showed that there are differences in the religious experience of each individual, which proves that religious experience is subjective. In addition, of the five aspects of Compton and Hoffman's religious experience, there is one aspect that is not experienced by the three subjects, namely numinous experiences. The religious experience experienced by the three subjects proves that there are changes in both the physical body, feelings, and thoughts.
