Future Anxiety of Juvenile Offenders Before Being Released at The Tanjung Gusta Class I Children's Special Development Institution, Medan
Abstract
This research aims to determine the picture of anxiety about the future of juvenile offenders before they are released at the Tanjung Gusta Class 1 Children's Special Development Institute, Medan. The design in this research uses descriptive quantitative research methods. The research sample involved 80 juvenile offenders at the Tanjung Gusta Class 1 Children's Special Development Institute, Medan, using the total sampling method. The measuring tool used is the Dark Future Anxiety Scale by Zaleski (2019). Data analysis was carried out with the help of the IBM SPSS Statistics version 20 program using descriptive methods. The results showed that 35 respondents (43.7%) of juvenile offenders experienced very high future anxiety, 17 respondents (21.31%) experienced high future anxiety, 15 respondents (18.7%) experienced low future anxiety , and 13 respondents (16.3%) experienced very low future anxiety. So, the conclusion of this research is that there is anxiety about the future in juvenile offenders approaching their release at the Tanjung Gusta Class 1 Children's Special Development Institute, Medan, with the majority of future anxiety being in very high future anxiety, namely 35 respondents with a percentage of 43.7% where The majority composition is that 17.5% of correctional students have 3 months remaining in prison and 21.25% of juvenile offenders are 17 years old.
