Studi Etnobotani Aren (Arenga Pinnata Merr.) pada Masyarakat Karo di Kecamatan Sibolangit, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, Sumatera Utara
Abstract
Ethnobotanical Study of Sugar Palm (Arenga Pinnata merr.) In the Karo Community at Sibolangit District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, the aim is to find out the knowledge and perceptions regarding the use of sugar palm and the degradation of knowledge in each age group. The method used in this research is interviews open ended which was carried out openly and in depth with key informants about the use of palm and how to manage palm, while questionnaires were carried out to the community to find out social, economic conditions and knowledge about palm. From the results of research on the use of sugar palm as a food ingredient, namely sap, as a drink ingredient for male flower bunches, as a craft material for palm fibers and leaf midribs, as medicine to increase body stamina and eliminate colds, as a traditional marriage ceremony, a 7-month event (mesur-mesuri), enter a new house (knock on my new house)and traditional food by the Karo tribe community in Sibolangit District. Degradation of knowledge in age group A occurred in age group C by 44.83%.
