Abstract
As a historical study, this study includes the history of plantations, the main object of
study of which is Aek Paing. Thus, this study deserves to be studied in more depth so that the
problems created can be resolved into a historical study in chronological form. Aek Paing
Village was originally a village near PTPN III Rantau Prapat. This village is one of the villages
in North Rantau District, Labuhan Batu Regency. Aek Paing Village is one of the villages that
has been used as PTPN III Rantau Prapat Plantation Pensioners from the time the Pensioners
first entered this village until now. Their life after retirement is to live and settle in Aek Paing
village, and the pension salary is one of the incomes of Plantation retirees which can meet their
daily living needs. Of course, within the scope of Aek Paing village, retirees assimilate local
culture. The aim of this research is to find out how the economic life of retirees who worked at
PTPN III Rantau Prapat (the period before living in Aek Paing Village) until they settled in
Aek Paing Village. This research method uses the Historical Method, starting with determining
the topic. Up to the heuristic stage (source collection). The researcher used a direct interview
method sourced from historical actors and retired employees of PTPN III Rantau Prapat and a
document method sourced from documents owned by PTPN III Rantau Prapat and personal
documents owned by retired employees in 1996 - 2010. The researcher also using secondary
sources in the form of books, journals and theses. These sources are then verified (criticized)
through external criticism to obtain the authenticity of the source, and also internal criticism to
produce credibility of historical facts. Then, the verification results are interpreted in the form
of analysis and synthesis to produce a historical narrative. Finally, apply historiography to
reconstruct the historical facts that have been collected.
