dc.description.abstract | This research is about the development of Jaran Kepang in Binjai City. The purpose of writing this thesis is to explain the jaran kepang performing arts in Binjai City before 1970, the dynamics of the jaran kepang performing arts in 1971-2003, and the obstacles experienced by the Jaran Kepang performing arts studio in Binjai City in 1971-2003. The methods used in this thesis research are heuristics (data collection), critical verification (data authenticity), interpretation (study of sources), and historiography (historical writing). In collecting data, this research used literature study and field study methods. The library study used literature in the form of books in the Binjai City Service Library and the University of North Sumatra Library. The author carried out field studies in the form of observing locations and conducting interviews with resource persons. From this research, results were obtained in the form of information which can be concluded that before 1970 was the beginning of Jaran Kepang's arrival in Binjai City, such as the initial phase of development, as well as the first Jaran Kepang studio in Binjai City. Entering 1971-2003, there was a dynamic in the jaran kepang performing arts in Binjai City, namely from costumes, make-up, musical instruments, horses, dance movements, performance fees, performance venues and the increase in studios being formed. In the same year as before, the Jaran kepang performing art also experienced obstacles such as religious, ethnic and educational factors. | en_US |
