    Abstract
    The aim of this research is to determine the vowel and consonant sounds of four year old Malay children in Secanggang Village, Langkat Regency and what environmental factors influence four year old Malay children in Secanggang Village, Langkat Regency. This research uses qualitative research. The data source is language (conversation of four year old Malay children in Secanggang Village, Langkat Regency (psycholinguistic study). The data in this research is in the form of verbal or utterances, words. The data collection methods used are observation, unstructured interviews, observations, and documentation. The data analysis methods used are writing down the data, then the data is classified according to the research subject, then the data is processed. The results of the research concluded that children's language acquisition (psychological studies) showed that children had acquired the vowel sounds [a], [e], [o], [i] and [u], children had also acquired consonant sounds. Consonant sounds consist of [b], [c], [d], [f], [g], [h], [j], [k], [l], [m], [n], [p ], [q], [r], [s], [t], [v], [w], [x], [y], and [z]. Even though there are some letters that have not been spoken in conversation, children can already acquire them. The environmental factors that influence Malay children aged four years are family factors and environmental factors. These two factors greatly influence children's language acquisition.
