Pemberdayaan Communication in Action sebagai Pengembangan Soft Skill di Kalangan Mahasiswa Prodi Ilmu Komunikasi

Abstract

This research is entitled Empowerment of Communication in Action as the development of soft skills among USU FISIP Communication Science study program students. The aim of this research is to determine the empowerment of Communication in Action as soft skill development among USU FISIP Communication Science study program students and to analyze planning strategies in empowering Communication in Action as soft skill development among USU FISIP Communication Science study program students. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method. The data collection technique used was through observation and in-depth interviews. Researchers carried out a series of data analysis techniques, namely data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions and testing data validity. Testing the validity of the data in this study used 3 source triangulation. The informants in this research were 5 students who were participants and committee members in the 2022 Communication in Action activity. The results of this research prove that the Communication in Action empowerment activity is considered capable of being a means and initial stage for improving soft skills in USU FISIP Communication Science students. This is due to the fulfillment of the elements of soft skills development felt by students who are participants and committee members of this Communication in Action activity. The elements of soft skills development that have a big impact on students who are informants in this research include: ability to communicate in public, leadership, time management, problem solving, self-branding and ethics in speaking.
