    Abstract
Professional ethics in librarianship is significant because it sets the framework and boundaries for librarians to achieve excellent service in the future and be responsible to each person and society. This research aimed to investigate the implementation and obstacles of the professional code of ethics for librarians in the Regional Library and Archive of Aceh Tamiang Regency. This was descriptive research with a qualitative approach, requiring primary and secondary data with data collection techniques namely observation, interviews, and documentation. The 7 informants selected by the researcher to collect the data were librarians, head of agency, and library users. The collected data were then analyzed in several stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The data were also validated using techniques, namely source triangulation, technique triangulation, and time triangulation. The research findings indicate that librarians at the Regional Library and Archive Service of Aceh Tamiang Regency have attempted to implement the Librarian Code of Ethics, but have experienced obstacles in its implementation. This is due to the lack of cooperation between librarians and the IPI Supervisory Commission in implementing the librarian code of ethics. The main obstacles in implementing the code of ethics for librarians at the Regional Library and Archive Service of Aceh Tamiang Regency are as follows: (a) Unavailability of Supervisory Commission on the code of ethics for IPI librarians to supervise the implementation of the code of ethics; (b) Lack of interest among librarians in joining professional organizations such as IPI; (c) Gaps in socialization and direction regarding the implementation of the code of ethics, confusing librarians' implementation and evaluation of the applicable code of ethics. This research concludes that the UMSU Library has implemented the five promotion mix indicators optimally despite encountering several problems in planning and implementation. Therefore, librarians at the Regional Library and Archives Service of Aceh Tamiang Regency experience obstacles in implementing the Librarian Code of Ethics due to a lack of cooperation with the IPI supervisory commission.
