Representasi Ibu Bekerja pada Film (Analisis Semiotika Roland Barthes Pada Film M3gan)

Abstract

The study is entitled "Representation of Mothers Working on Film (Roland Barthes' Semiotic Analysis on M3GAN Film)". This study aims to find out how the representation of a working mother in parenting is contained in the M3GAN film by director Gerard Johnstone. This research used Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. The research method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method that requires researchers to display data that is as it is. The data obtained were taken from the analysis of 7 scenes in the film and looked for signs of denotational meaning, connotations and myths that can be extracted from the representation of working mothers. The results of this study show that a working mother cannot fulfill her role as a mother as a whole well. The mother figure in this film shows that it is impossible for a working mother to carry out her role as a mother at home as well as her career in the office.
