This study aims to explain and describe whether there is an effect of understanding the values of nationalism on the political behavior of students of the University of North Sumatra class of 2021. Indonesia as a large country with cultural, ethnic and religious diversity requires the younger generation to have a high spirit of nationalism. Students' nationalism can have a complex impact on their political behavior. In this study, researchers used the theory of nationalism and the theory of political behavior. This research uses quantitative methods with simple linear regression analysis techniques. With a quantitative approach, data collection is in the form of questionnaires distributed to students of the University of North Sumatra class of 2021. The results showed that there was a high relationship of 0.697 between the nationalism variable and the political behavior variable. The effect of the independent variable (nationalism) on the dependent variable (political behavior) is 48.6%. Furthermore, 51.4% of political behavior is influenced by other factors not examined in this study. Understanding the values of nationalism has a positive effect on the political behavior of students of the University of North Sumatra class of 2021 in participating in various political aspects, namely participating in elections, knowing the meaning of politics, and criticizing government policies for the progress of the nation.en_US
