dc.description.abstract | Research on the mechanical, morphological, and thermal characteristics of a mixture of natural rubber (SIR-10) and epoxidized natural rubber with the addition of bentonite as a filler has been carried out. The use of C9 resin, xylene, and PET film were used as tackifier, solvent and substrate, respectively. A mixture of natural rubber (SIR-10) and epoxidized natural rubber was made in a ratio of 100:0, 75:25, 50:50, 25:75, 0:100 (phr:phr) which was then mixed until homogeneous. Then the mixture was poured on a PET film substrate and then dried at room temperature. Then the mixture was characterized by using a peel test. The peel test results showed that the optimum mixture occurred at a ratio of (75:25) phr, which was 54.47 N/m. The optimum results from the peel test will then be added with bentonite as a filler with variations of 10 phr, 20 phr, and 30 phr. The mixture of optimum natural rubber-epoxidized natural rubber with bentonite then poured on PET film substrate according to ASTM D907 and then dried at room temperature. Furthermore, the characterization test was carried out using the peel test, TGA test, and optical microscope test. The results of the mixed characterization test showed that the most optimum results from the peel test characterization occurred at 10 phr of bentonite addition of 136.09 N/m. Thermal analysis with TGA showed that the mixture had thermal decomposition resistance at a peak temperature of 415.9°C with a char residue of 7.75%. Morphological analysis with optical microscope showed the surface of the homogeneous mixture. The results of this study indicate that a mixture of natural rubber and epoxidized natural rubber with the addition of bentonite can increase the peel test value based on the characterization test obtained from the research that has been done. | en_US |
