dc.description.abstractPath analysis is a quantitative method that can be used to examine causal relationships between variables. In general, path analysis is used to examine the magnitude of the direct or indirect effect between several variables. Path analysis can be applied in a social problem, in recent years the world is being worried about the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The existence of policies in dealing with the spread of COVID-19 has an impact on various aspects of life, such as education. This study was conducted to determine the factors causing the dropout rate for junior high school in North Sumatra. This study uses data in 2020 which is the period of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this study, it was concluded that of the five factors studied that had the greatest influence on the dropout rate for junior high school in North Sumatra in 2020, the school participation rate was 8.4% and the human development index was 71.3% for each increase. 1% of those factors.en_US
