Money is a tool used as a payment for everything, a means of exchange, a
means of measuring value and a means of hoarding wealth. One of the people who
find it difficult to identify money is the blind. Generally, people with visual
impairments arrange the money they have by backing up the nominal or putting a
special mark around the money so that they can identify the nominal of the money. It
is very important to know the nominal value of paper money so that no one is
deceived by irresponsible people when transacting. A paper money detection device
has been designed and implemented for blind citizens that can detect the nominal
value of paper money. To be able to detect paper money, the ATmega328
microcontroller is designed to program data that is converted into voice signals.
During the process of collecting papermoney samples, the sensor is only placed
around the center of the paper money. The data that will be taken by the sensor is
red-green-blue (RGB) data. The number that appears the most when data is collected
from paper money will be concluded with the minimum and maximum data. The
correct data will be sent to the ATmega328 microcontroller to convert the data into
sound. With an MP3-TF-16P sound module that functions to play a preset sound for
each type of banknote nominal. When the push button is pressed, the sensor will read
the RGB color of the detected paper money and will emit a sound coming from the
speaker stating the nominal value of the detected paper money. The sensor that can
read the RGB color of each money is the TCS34725 sensor.
