Community Participation Through The Role of Tourism Awareness Groups in Developing Flower Tourism in Bangun Sari Baru Village, Tanjung Morawa District
Abstract
Tourism development involves direct community participation to manage and empower the potential that exists in tourist attractions. In the process of developing tourism in villages, the existence of Tourism Awareness Groups is of course very necessary to encourage people to want to participate in developing tourism. The Tourism Awareness Group actually acts as a driving force to invite the public to participate in developing the tourist attraction program. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. The data collection techniques used in this research are observation, interviews, documentation. The aim is to look at forms of community participation through the role of tourism awareness groups and also supporting and inhibiting factors in developing flower tourism in Bangun Sari Baru Village.
The results of this research show that the development of flower tourism involves the participation of the Bangun Sari Baru community through pokdarwis based on forms of participation in the form of creating ideas and planning activities, implementing activity programs, accepting and utilizing them in activities and carrying out evaluations. In this case, the participation of the Bangun Sari Baru community formed the Bougenville Tourism Awareness Group as an activity to develop and improve the quality of flower tourism which was formed on the community's own initiative, guided by and under the auspices of the Culture and Tourism Service. By carrying out activities such as agrotourism education about the cultivation of ornamental plants through steak media; carrying out mutual cooperation activities, from a social perspective, namely carrying out environmental cleaning activities every Sunday and health activities, spraying anti-covid disinfectant 3 times a week, and from an economic perspective, through the group's cash fund, purchasing rattan trash cans; transportation service activities with the availability of motorbike taxis; carrying out promotional activities on social media, through word of mouth, as well as activities, participating in exhibitions. This activity produces benefits for the Bangun Sari Baru community by creating business products such as ornamental plant souvenirs, flower pot crafts, and manure processing and also increasing community income. Apart from that, to anticipate deficiencies in these activities, the tourism awareness group takes action in the form of an evaluation in the form of a meeting at the end of every month. Supporting factors in the development of flower tourism include support in terms of natural beauty, involvement of local government, quality of human resources, and harmonization between communities. Apart from the obstacles, there are inadequate capital and facilities.
