Flooding is a crucial problem in Indonesia, including Medan City, namely in Medan Selayang District. The Medan City BPBD together with the sub-district and the community are trying to implement a flood management strategy. In the implementation that has been carried out, there are still problems where there is still a lack of public awareness in dealing with flooding due to the habit of littering, drainage sedimentation which makes the drainage not optimal in accommodating water discharge, besides that there are still people who are difficult to evacuate when a flood disaster occurs. This shows that there are obstacles in flood prevention. This study aims to describe and analyze the management strategy for flood control in Medan Selayang District. The research method used in this research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out using interviews, observation, documentation, and literature techniques. This research was conducted at the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency Office of Medan City and Medan Selayang District. The results of the study show that the flood management strategy for strategy formulation indicators begins with analyzing internal and external factors that cause flooding, strategies to be implemented in the context of disaster mitigation, as well as planning strategies to be carried out during the pre-disaster period, as well as objectives. general and specific to be achieved. Seeing that the implementation of the strategy carried out by the government, in this case BPBD and Medan Selayang District, was in tackling the flood disaster that occurred and the role of the community was involved in implementing the strategy through outreach and efforts to maintain environmental cleanliness. Meanwhile, for strategy evaluation indicators, the Medan City Government took corrective action to correct mistakes and deficiencies in previous countermeasures. Thus, strategic management is a cyclical and reciprocal activity to achieve successful strategy achievement.en_US
