    Abstract
    An Indoor People Counting Tool has been designed using NodeMCU ESP8266 Based on the Internet of Things (IoT). The designing process of the “Indoor Number of People Counting Tool Using the NodeMCU ESP8266 Based on the Internet of Things (IoT)” is using an ultrasonic sensor HC-SR04 which has two ultrasonic membranes where the first membrane functioned as a sender or transmitter of ultrasonic waves while the other one is to capture or receive ultrasonic waves reflection, the reflected wave that captured by the receiver will be sent in the form of information to the CPU. The HC-SR04 can transmit and capture ultrasonic waves as far as four meters but in this case it will be limited so that the recorded readings are only for objects that are smaller than or equal to 100 cm. NodeMCU ESP8266 as a controller and CPU that receives the information from the ultrasonic sensor will process the information into commands. Internet of Things as a data communication model using WiFi as the internet connection. Here, the Telegram acted as a display of the calculation results. When the object begins to pass through the sensor, data will be collected. After the data retrieval process, the data will be sent to the NodeMCU ESP8266 and displayed to Telegram via a smartphone. The whole system can run automatically because the source code has been loaded on the NodeMCU ESP8266 as the controller to run the tool as desired. The test results of this tool shows that the tool works well in the process of counting the number of people in the room.
