dc.description.abstract | Community empowerment-based tourism development is one strategy that can be implemented to improve community welfare in tourist destination areas. This strategy emphasizes the active role of the community in managing and developing tourism in their area. Telagah Village, Langkat Regency, is one of the villages that implements a tourism development strategy based on community empowerment. This village has quite large natural tourism potential, such as waterfalls, rivers and forests. However, this potential has not been fully exploited to improve community welfare. To increase the tourism potential of Telagah Village, the local government is collaborating with the local community to develop tourism.
The research method used in this research is a descriptive research method with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were carried out using interviews, observation, documentation and literature study. The research informants consisted of the Head of the Tourism Division of the Langkat Regency Tourism and Culture Office, the Head of Telagah Village, the Head of the Telagah Village Tourism Awareness Group, tourist management, the community and visitors.The results of the research show that cooperation has been established through various activities, such as training, mentoring and providing assistance. Collaboration in tourism development in Telagah Village has had a positive impact on the local community. However, there are several problems found in the field, such as minimal government supervision of the programs being implemented, public awareness and inadequate infrastructure as standard for tourism.
From this research, the result of the collaboration achieved was the formation of POKDARWIS, this tourism awareness group is a group that is trained and guided directly by the Langkat Regency Tourism and Culture Office, which is hoped will produce people who have the skills and knowledge to manage and develop tourism in the village they. Apart from that, it also aims to increase tourist visits. The success of tourism development in Telagah Village shows that collaboration between the government and the community is the key to success in developing community empowerment-based tourism | en_US |
