dc.description.abstractThis research is entitled “The Representation of Empowered Women in the Song Lyrics of Flowers by Miley Cyrus”. The purpose of the research is to describe the representation of empowered women in the song lyrics of Flowers by Miley Cyrus based on five reading unit codes or lexia in the semiotic analysis model of Roland Barthes and to find out the myths contained in the song lyrics text of Flowers by Miley Cyrus, namely regarding the issue of a women’s empowerement. The research method is qualitative with a semiotic analysis approach modeled by Roland Barthes. The data resource comes from primary data obtained through the song lyrics text of Flowers by Miley Cyrus using observational data collection techniqueson the research object, and secondary resourcesthrough a data collection process using document analysis studies. The research results show that empowered women are represented through female character who have high self-esteem and optimism in facing the worst situations she experience, have the ability to make decisions, act independently, and become a better version of herself.en_US
