Sintesis dan Karakterisasi Sediaan Essence Kitosan dalam Sheet Mask sebagai Antibakteri dan Anti-Aging
Synthesis and Characterization of Essence Chitosan Sheet Mask as Anti-Bacterial and Anti-Aging
Abstract
Research has been carried out on the use of chitosan in the formulation of a essence sheet mask as an antimicrobial and anti-aging. Sheet masks are one of the cosmetics that are widely used by consumers because they contain essence which can be applied practically and can be carried anywhere without rinsing after use. Essence made with the addition of chitosan can improve the quality of the essence as an antibacterial and anti-aging. Antibacterial activity testing was carried out on gram-positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus to see the effective concentration of chitosan from the three types of chitosan concentration, namely 0.5%, 1% and 1.5%. The process of making chitosan essence use experimental methods and characterization is carried out using parameters in the form of homogeneity, pH, viscosity, stability tests, hedonic, antibacterial, irritation, effectiveness, and SEM tests. The best essence is with the addition of 1.5% chitosan. The results of the evaluation of essence 0.5%, 1%, and 1.5% during 12 weeks of storage showed that the pH value of the essence by the skin pH requirements and showed no change in aroma, color, and texture during storage at room temperature. The viscosity value was unstable due to the addition of CMC which can reduce viscosity during the storage period,. The antibacterial activity test was the widest clear zone diameter with the addition of 1.5% chitosan, which was 9.5 mm. This also applies to the effectiveness test as an anti-aging that essence is the addition of 1.5% chitosan with the parameters of increasing moisture, smoothness, decreasing the number of blemishes, decreasing pore size diameter and decreasing the number of wrinkles, which are 34.98%, 43.89%, 37.07%, 34.04%, and 32.92%.
