The Description of Figure of Speech in Rod Stewart’s Selected Songs

Abstract

This paper is entitled "The Description of Figure of Speech in Rod Stewart's Selected Songs". This paper aims to describe the types of figure of speech found in Rod Stewart's songs and the effects of the figure of speech given to listeners and readers. Many of Rod Stewart songs use figure of speech in the delivery of song lyrics, where figure of speech is usually used to beautify literary works and even figure of speech can be used to express the author's heart. In completing this paper, the researcher uses a qualitative method and the theory used is the theory of Dr. Gorys Keraf. Based on the results described, the researcher found the types of figure of speech used in Rod Stewart's song, namely paradox, personification, metaphor, simile, and hyperbole. Hopefully, this paper can be useful and increase the knowledge of readers and listeners who are interested in knowing the types of figure of speech, especially in Rod Stewart's song.
