dc.description.abstract | The Deli River Basin is an area that covers parts of the area located in Karo
Regency, Deli Serdang and Medan City. There are many community activities
along the Deli River, such as bathing, sand dredging, agriculture and it is not
uncommon for local communities to use the Deli River as a place to collect
rubbish. This affects the quality of the Deli River and can influence the life of
organisms in it. Nekton is biota that can live freely and actively swim without
being affected by water currents. In an effort to determine the spatial distribution
of nekton, it can be assessed using population density, relative density, frequency
of presence, Shannon Weinner diversity index, and equitability index. The aim of
this research is to determine the structure of the nekton community and the spatial
distribution of nekton in the Deli River. This research uses quantitative descriptive
where the author will explain or conclude the data in the form of numbers. The
method used to determine stations is purposive sampling, namely by selecting 18
points along the Deli River. Physical and chemical water parameters were also
measured in the form of temperature, Ph, DO, river body width, depth, brightness,
current speed and turbidity. The results of the research show that the nekton
community structure in the Deli River is 12 species and 9 families, and the spatial
distribution of nekton in the downstream area is dominated by the clarias
batrachus species, while in the middle and upstream parts it is dominated by the
caridina gracillirostris species. | en_US |
